The Things Women Read

Every week, I work in a different area of town and these towns vary from poor communities to fairly wealth ones.  There are times when I take a step back and observe people – whether I am at the mall, the coffee shop, or the super market.  Then I started noticing a trend in the kind of information women are exposed to in the magazines that exist in such locations.  Without naming the magazine titles themselves, I am sure women out there will know what I am talking about.

10 New Ways to Turn Him On!  The Best 20 Sex Positions!  Wow Him Without Using Your Hands!

Really now?  Again?  O-M-G!  I don’t know where these magazines are getting their information, but it seems like there are constantly new developments on ways to excite men.  How could this happen when there is a limited number of erogenous zones?  I am not sure why they even print this stuff, because I wonder how many women actually TRY this stuff?  Furthermore, men are not all alike.  Some men likes this and other men likes that.

I believe that women do not need magazines to advise them on how to please their man.  Ladies, you know your man best – sometimes even better than he knows himself.  You know what he likes and what he dislikes; you know his preferences and his tastes.  Your intuition is incredible, so be yourself and keep it real.

Tips to Blast Belly Fat!  Get Your Body in Shape for Summer!

The magazines are published in March/April because apparently all you need is a couple months to get in shape.  These tips might as well as include a trip to the lipo-factory, because losing weight is not an easy task.  Finding the time and energy to exercise is challenging enough.  Then you have to make sure you’re doing the right exercises and maintain the workouts over an extended period of time.  Even if you do the most intense workout, you would have only BEGUN to start losing weight after a couple of months, never mind meeting your targeted goal weight.  As a result, some women have suffered serious injuries by engaging themselves in super rigorous exercises.

Dieting Secrets That KILL Cravings!  Eating While Burning FatHealthy Meals for Max Weight Loss!

Dieting is another challenge that everyone faces.  Whether you are dieting on and off or jumping from one dieting fad to the next; you have to realize that each body is different.  Lifestyle, metabolism, body weight, and other habits affect how each diet works for you.  Just because it works for your friend, doesn’t mean it will give you the same results.  The best answer to losing weight is to burn more calories than you consume.  The best answer to gaining weight to eat constantly until you feel nauseated.  That’s it folks.  No magic pills, no wonder drug, and oh, for the love of God, no lap band!

Of course, there are a slew of magazines that attempt to influence men in the same fashion.  Although those risqué models are attractive and men fantasize about pounding them on the beach, the damages done to men are less detrimental than to women.  The dirty magazines go for the display because they understand that men are visual.  Young hot girls in provocative sexual poses draw men’s attention and sells merchandises.  Magazines catered to women often go after insecurities that women may have – weight issues, dress sizes, sex appeal, fashion, etc…  This goes further to affect how they think and make them feel inadequate, resulting in a constant need to improve themselves when in fact, there is nothing wrong with them.

I understand that for some women, these magazines are fun to read and provide an escape to reality.  It could be about celebrity gossip, or dramatic romances, and that’s okay.  As long as women don’t get caught up in feeling inadequate by looking at all these airbrushed models that underwent 5 hours of hair and makeup and 2 hours of Photoshop before appearing on the cover, it’s all okay.  Remember, the guys will still love you… and if they don’t, screw ’em.
